A Perfect Arctic Autumn

If you're following me on Instagram or Facebook, you might already know that I totally fell in love with autumn this season. It's always been my least favourite time of year. As someone who has suffered from seasonal affective disorder way too often, those grey and rainy autumn days where it never really gets bright outside really influence my mood.

And don't even get me started on polar night.

This autumn however has been different. You see, usually the first snow of the season arrives in September or October at the latest. This year though, not a single snowflake has been sighted in downtown Tromso so far! It was only in the last couple of days that the mountain tops around us got covered with snow but it still hasn't reached the city.

This is not because it has been too warm. Quite the contrary, it's been freezing cold lately. The weather however was fantastic and I don't think I've ever experienced that many sunny days during October anywhere! And I mean sunny as in there wasn't a single cloud in the sky on so many days which really doesn't happen all that often in Tromso - and especially not during summer!

So yes, to say that I enjoyed this autumn is quite an understatement! I've been dancing on frozen moss during the day and hunting the Northern Lights at night!

Winter will be arriving shortly though. They forecast the first snow for the end of this week but they have been wrong about their forecasts before so who knows?! Anyway, this autumn gave me the perfect opportunity to participate in Emma's, Angie's and Jamie's travel link-up so if you're interested in more "perfect things", head over to one of their blogs and check out the other posts and don't forget to link-up for Wanderful Wednesday below!

My favourite post from last week was "THE EMPIRE BUILDER: MY TOP TIPS FOR TAKING THE AMTRAK TRAIN FROM CHICAGO TO SEATTLE" by A Nesting Nomad. Rachel's done it again - now I'm dreaming about travelling through Swedish Lapland by train. I mean, I'd love to do the Chicago to Seattle journey too - or even better, board the Transsiberian Express, but let's be realistic. I probably won't go on any of these trips soon but at least Rachel's got me dreaming ;)

So thanks for linking up with us, Rachel!
