To be fair, I didn't get to see as much of Latvia during my weekend cruise from Stockholm as I would have liked, but what I did see of Riga was absolutely fabulous! You should definitely explore the city if you get a chance!
Last week I told you that I climbed took the lift to the top of St. Peter's Church in the Old Town. The church is right opposite of the Museum of Occupation and in the heart of Riga - you can't miss it! Our tour guide told us that you can get to the Church's top and as soon as our guided walk was over, I headed over there. You have to pay an entrance fee (I think I payed 5€) and the usual waiting time at the lift is 10min.
Last week I told you about my mini-cruise to Latvia and my experience onboard. This week it's about my time off-board, namely in the city of Riga. That is to say facts and loads of pictures of Riga today and my opinion of and experiences in Riga, as well as pictures of the city from above and at the water next week.
I wanted to go on a mini-cruise whilst staying in Stockholm just because it's so easy to explore the Baltics and Finland from there. Every day there is a departure from Stockholm to Helsinki, Tallin, Riga and the Aland isles. And the mini-cruises all depart on for example Friday evening, arrive at the destination around 10am the following morning and depart again in the evening so that you arrive again in Stockholm on for example Sunday by 10 or 11am.
